Leeds City Collage celebrate the Leeds Corn Exchange’s 150th AnniversaryTo Do

Inspired by a man in a van, a letter that was once sent, two men walking down the road, a stamp licked, a stamp stuck and you.      Of course.

‘To Do’ uses, explores and presents real stories. Stories of tales which need to be told. Told to you, by us.

‘To Do’ was first performed at Stage@Leeds in May 2013, working in collaboration with the theatres Professional Artist Development programme.

The piece was inspired by the alarming idea of the ‘rape culture’ we are living in. This prompted initial research into experiences of sexual harassment from the little to large, uncovering  many stories which became the basis of the script. Being beeped at, being whistled at, being eyed up,…

Presenting the stories that had been collected in the research process, all of which were real stories, beginning what is and what isn’t acceptable. Whether there is or isn’t a line that’s being crossed.

If we accept that being beeped at is harmless and meanlingless how far do we continue to excuses unacceptable behaviours, for example.
